“The Old Mill Spillway – Pigeon Forge” 12 x 16 Soft Pastel on Pastelbord

This is a recent piece that I did from a very old photo of mine, taken during a family trip to the Smoky Mountains. I am happy to say this piece was juried into the Red Rock Pastel Society Of Nevada‘s 2026 Juried Online Members Exhibition by one of my favorite pastel artists, Stephie Clark.
This is The Old Mill in Pigeon Forge. It’s a pretty iconic location for those who travel often to the Smokies. When I took the reference photo, we were out walking across the bridge and the sun was just glistening off the water in such a sparkly way. I tried to capture that feeling of sparkle in this painting.
